Before January 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to reveal India's team for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025. According to a note addressed to the selection panel exclusively for T20s, the team for the five-match T20I series against England is expected to be revealed by January 11.
The Champions Trophy lineup and the ODI squad for the England series, however, may possibly be decided on the same day or by January 12, the ICC's deadline for submitting the provisional roster, according to sources who spoke to India Today. Selectors will have considerable leeway to address injuries or form issues as all eight teams have until February 13 to make changes to their provisional rosters.
Dubai will host the summit match if India advances to the final. India's group stage schedule includes games against New Zealand on March 2 and Pakistan on February 23. The competition starts on February 19 and ends on March 8 with the final set.
As selectors gather this weekend to finalize the Champions Trophy team, it is unclear whether senior players KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja will be included in India's ODI batting lineup, which still consists primarily of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Their roles have been questioned despite their participation in the 2023 World Cup. India played six ODIs after the World Cup, with Shami and Jadeja taking constant rests.
